What is the best time to visit Morocco?
Morocco can be visited all year round, but the best time depends on the regions and activities you choose. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring pleasant temperatures for the imperial cities, the Atlas valleys and desert tours. In summer we especially recommend the High Atlas Mountains, while winter is ideal for exploring the Sahara.
What can you see on a 4x4 tour of Morocco?
Our 4x4 tours of Morocco reveal very varied landscapes: the Atlas Mountains, Berber villages, ancient kasbahs, oases, palm groves and desert tracks. Depending on the itinerary, we can explore the Drâa Valley, the Dadès Valley, the Todra Gorges and the dunes of Erg Chegaga or Merzouga. They are ideal for combining adventure, nature and meeting local people.
How fit do you need to be for trekking in the Atlas Mountains?
It depends on the route. We organise Atlas treks for beginners, families and experienced hikers. Some routes through the Berber valleys involve 3 to 5 hours of walking a day, while the ascents of Toubkal or M'Goun require good fitness. We adapt the stages, elevation gain and walking times to each group's experience.
What is a desert trek in Morocco like?
A desert trek in Morocco means walking for several days through dunes, desert plateaus, oases and Saharan landscapes, with a local guide and a team of cameleers who carry the luggage and camp equipment. Nights are spent in a bivouac under the stars, with meals prepared by our cook. It is a complete immersion in nature, far from mass tourism.
How many days do you need for a desert trip from Marrakech?
To reach the Sahara dunes from Marrakech we recommend at least 3 days and 2 nights, because of the driving distances. A 4- or 5-day tour lets you travel at a calmer pace, see the kasbahs and oases of the south and enjoy a fuller experience. If you want to walk in the desert for several days, we offer 6- to 8-day trips or tailor-made itineraries.
When is the best time for trekking in the Sahara?
The best time for trekking in the Moroccan Sahara is generally October to April, when temperatures are better for walking. November, February and March usually offer good conditions. Nights can be quite cold in December and January, so warm clothing is essential. We avoid long desert walks in summer because of the extreme heat.
Which imperial cities of Morocco can you visit on a tour?
Morocco's four imperial cities are Marrakech, Fez, Meknes and Rabat, each with a unique historic and cultural heritage: traditional medinas, palaces, monuments and lively souks.
